Original Predator Movie Star Reacts To Prequel Prey

Veteran actor and original
Predator star Bill Duke reacted to the franchise prequel film,
Prey. The monster-action movie is a prequel to the popular franchise that began with 1987’s
Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura, and Duke. The film focused on a special military team tasked with rescuing Americans from behind enemy lines. However, the mission soon turns for the worse when the operatives realize a fierce alien creature is hunting them.,Although the original film received a mixed response from critics, audience praise helped the film spawn a 35-year franchise that generated five sequels and two
Alien crossover films. Unfortunately, many of the films have not been as well-liked as the original, with films such as
The Predator (2018) sitting at a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem seated at the bottom of the franchise with a rating of 12%. However, the franchise’s latest film,
Prey, has received near-universal praise and garnered a 92% Fresh rating, the series’ best. Set in the American Great Plains during the early 18th century, Prey follows Naru (Amber Midthunder), a young Comanche hunter who must protect her people when faced threatened by a Predator.,Related: Prey’s Biggest Unanswered Questions & Mysteries,Duke recently took to Twitter to react to the popular
Predator prequel film,
Prey. In the post, the actor advises all to check out the movie and calls Midthunder ”
phenomenal” with ”
a bright career ahead of her.” Duke’s post prompted a response from Midthunder, who said she was ”
humbled” by his words. Check out the tweets below:,As a franchise continues throughout the decades, rarely does the quality of the film entries remain at a high level. With
Prey being the seventh entry in the franchise, receiving outstanding praise from members of the original cast, such as Duke and former wrestler Jesse Ventura, is nothing to slouch at. Midthunder immediately recognized Duke’s kind words as weighted with years of experience behind it. Not only within the franchise but as a venerable actor on screen and stage with roles in such films as
American Gigolo,
Commando, and
Menace II Society.,With
Prey being one of the franchise’s biggest successes, as the film has now become Hulu’s most-watched premiere in the streaming service’s history, the possibility for a continuation of the movie series has likely increased. Although the film concluded with Naru slaying the Predator and becoming a War Chief for her tribe, the end credits sequence showed that alien warships revealed themselves to the Comanche camp. The film’s success, coupled with a cliffhanger ending,
Prey may have reinvigorated a franchise that was once thought to have a foot in its grave.,Source: Bill Duke, Amber Midthunder
