Will Thor: Love and Thunder Feature Big Cameos? Director Taika Waititi Responds

Thor: Love and Thunder
director Taika Waititi teases some epic cameos in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie that can’t be discussed. After two Shakespearean-inspired installments – 2011’s
Thor helmed by Kenneth Branagh and 2013’s
The Dark World, which was directed by Alan Taylor and met with mixed reception – Waititi was brought on board for the threequel,
Ragnarok. Released in 2017, the movie completely overhauled the style and tone of the
Thor series. Though Marvel’s sub-franchises typically don’t extend beyond a trilogy, a fourth
Thor movie was announced later in 2019.,Chris Hemsworth returns to lead the
Thor: Love and Thunder cast as the titular God of Thunder alongside Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, and Waititi as the voice of Korg. The incomparable Christian Bale makes his MCU debut as primary antagonist Gorr the God Butcher, a vengeful galactic killer seeking the extinction of all gods, including Russell Crowe’s newcomer Zeus. In addition to the main cast, the Guardians of the Galaxy will also appear in
Love and Thunder along with a few high-profile actors confirmed to be making cameo appearances.,Related: Thor: Love & Thunder Will Break Phase 4’s Big Fan Service Trend,During an interview about
Thor: Love and Thunder (via
ComicBook), Waititi discusses the possibility of the Marvel film surprising audiences with exciting cameos. The director is asked if
Love and Thunder will meet the high set bar set by
Ragnarok in terms of cameos, and he simply answers, ”
Yes.” Waititi wisely does not elaborate further on the film’s surprise appearances, explaining, ”
Otherwise it won’t be a cameo. You can’t talk about it. Then they may as well be on the poster.”,Given its lack of multiverse connections,
Love and Thunder‘s potential for major cameos hasn’t been discussed as much as the past two MCU entries,
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and
Spider-Man: No Way Home. This is despite the fact that
Ragnarok pulled in the likes of Matt Damon and Sam Neill as Asgardian actors playing Loki and Odin, respectively. Luke Hemsworth, brother of Chris, also appeared as an actor playing Thor. The three aforementioned stars are confirmed to be cameoing again in
Love and Thunder.,To surpass the high bar set by
Ragnarok
Love and Thunder has also added Melissa McCarthy, who will cameo as an Asgardian actor playing Hela, the previous film’s villain. McCarthy’s husband Ben Falcone, singer Jenny Morris, and Simon Russell Beale are three actors who were cast in undisclosed roles and will likely appear briefly in
Love and Thunder. While
Ragnarok‘s surprise cameos were a novelty played off for comedic effect, they are now expected in
Love and Thunder, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for Marvel to preserve secrecy and meet fan expectations, especially with so many eyes on their productions. Only time will tell if
Thor: Love and Thunder can deliver some exciting cameos when the film premieres in theaters.,Next: Thor 4: Melissa McCarthy’s Fake Hela Should Set Up Real Villain’s Return,Source: ComicBook
