Outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte is hoping that his successor, President-elect Bongbong Marcos, will continue his ambitious infrastructure projects under the “Build, Build, Build” program.,Acting deputy presidential spokesperson Kris Ablan said the Duterte administration is hoping that infrastructure would be among the priorities of the next leadership, noting that many of the former’s projects were still ongoing while some were about to begin.,“Just a few months ago or a month ago, he (Duterte) did come out with our economic agenda that hopefully, the incoming administration would continue,” Ablan said in an interview with CNN Philippines.,The Palace official was referring to the 10-point policy agenda approved by the Chief Executive in March, which he said would fast-track the country’s economic recovery from the pandemic.,Duterte, who will step down as the country’s chief executive on 30 June, urged the Marcos administration on Sunday, 12 June to continue pursuing big-ticket infrastructure projects.,Nineteen key infrastructure projects are expected to be completed by the end of Duterte’s term, while another 12 are set to be finished by the end of December when Marcos is president, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways.,Thirty more projects are set to be completed by 2023 and civil works for 10 infrastructure projects under the detailed engineering design stage will begin by that year onwards.,Earlier this week, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) assured the Philippine government and its development partners that it would continue supporting the “Build, Build, Build” program under the Marcos administration.,ADB extended the country US$2.79 billion in financial assistance last year, the fifth-biggest among its member countries, based on the institution’s 2021 annual report.,Of these, $2.23 billion are low-interest loans — the second largest after India’s US$4.6-billion.
