CALBAYOG CITY – A 15-year-old boy voluntarily surrendered to the authorities in relation to the rape slay of a public school and a college student in this city., ,A report of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) provincial field unit in Samar said the minor was accompanied by an adult when he surfaced at around 12:30 past midnight on 19 June., ,The report said the 15-year-old boy voluntarily submitted himself for his alleged involvement in the killing of college student Jade Andre Bestudio and his girlfriend Roan Jeallen Lamparas, a high school teacher, last 14 June in Barangays San Policarpo and Bagacay in this city., ,He is now under the custody of the CIDG provincial unit in Catbalogan City., ,Bestudio, a second-year mechanical engineering student at Northwest Samar State University, was found dead with a bullet wound in his head last 13 June at about 10:30 in the morning in a drainage canal along the roadside of Brgy. San Policarpo, Calbayog City., ,Lamparas, a secondary school teacher at Calbayog City High School, was found lifeless at about 8:10 in the evening of the same date lying naked at the grassy portion along the Diversion Road in the vicinity of Brgy. Bagacay, Calbayog City. , ,Police said Lamparas was raped based on the presence of spermatozoa that were found in her body during the post-mortem examination., ,The victims were last seen together evening last 12 June at the Mercury Drug Store in Brgy. Capoocan, Calbayog City when Bestudio went to pick Lamparas on a motorcycle., ,The killings sparked an outrage in the city that is still healing from the political-related killings that happened in relation to the heated 9 May elections in Samar’s first congressional district including this city., ,On Sunday, thousands of Calbayog city residents and from neighboring municipalities went to the streets to denounce the spate of killings and the brutal murder of Bestudio and Lamparas.,
