Marcos to pick ‘new faces’ in Cabinet

The camp of President-elect Bongbong Marcos Jr. said he would appoint “new faces” in government offices, dismissing reports that he would extend the term of some Cabinet members of the Duterte administration.,“The directive and the direction given by President-elect Bongbong, he wants to form his administration. He wants to have his government and he wants to run his governance,” lawyer Vic Rodriguez, Marcos Jr.’s longtime chief of staff and incoming Executive Secretary, said in an interview with dzBB.,“Simply put, we will have new faces in all departments of our government,” he added.,Marcos has yet to complete his Cabinet, with Rodriguez appealing to the public to be patient as the incoming president forms his administration.,“We cannot rush him and let’s give him enough space to build and form his administration,” Rodriguez, referring to Marcos. “Looking for the right person and the right post is a tedious process and President-elect Bongbong is being cautious.,Rodriguez has been chosen and has accepted the post of executive secretary in the incoming Marcos administration.,He is also the head of Marcos’ transition team coordinating with officials of President Rodrigo Duterte.,Cabinet takes shape

Marcos has so far nominated Vice President-elect Sara Duterte as Education secretary, Cavite Representative Jesus Crispin Remulla as Justice secretary, Bienvenido Laguesma as Labor secretary, Susan Ople as Migrant Workers secretary, and Trixie Cruz-Angeles as Press secretary.,He also named members of his economic team, namely, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Benjamin Diokno (finance), Arsenio Balisacan (National Economic and Development Authority), Alfred Pascual (trade), and Manny Bonoan (public works and highways).,BSP Monetary Board Member Felipe Medalla will take the place of Diokno to lead the central bank.,Rodriguez said that Marcos’ economic team has not helped them during the campaign period, noting that they “ended playing the game of politics the moment the precincts closed last May 9 polls.”,“To put things in proper perspective, the names of the nominees we have announced are not part of our campaign,” he said. “They have zero participation in our campaign.”,He then said that the Cabinet members appointed must be ready to serve the country and respect the laws.,
