Gov’t extends Metro Manila alert level 1 status until mid-June

The government kept Metro Manila and most of the provinces and cities across the country under alert level 1 until mid-June.,Aside from the capital region, placed under alert level 1 from 1 to 15 June were Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Baguio City, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Dagupan City, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, City of Santiago, Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Angeles City, and Olongapo City.,Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Lucena City, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Puerto Princesa City, Albay, Catanduanes, and Naga City have also been classified under alert level 1.,Also included in the said alert level were Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, Siquijor, Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Ormoc City, and Tacloban City.,In Mindanao, Zamboanga City, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City, Davao Oriental, Surigao del Sur, and Butuan City have also been placed under alert level 1.,The rest of the provinces in the Philippines have been placed under a stricter alert level 2.,In areas under alert level 1, all establishments and public transport are allowed to operate.,There were also no prohibitions on domestic travel, except if local government units imposed restrictions or requirements on tourists going to their respective jurisdictions.,Basic health protocols against Covid-19, namely, the mandatory wearing of face masks and observance of physical distancing will remain effective.,The government’s decision to keep existing restrictions came at a time when the country’s pandemic situation has been improving.,It was contained in Resolution No. 168 ratified by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, which was reported to the public on Friday by acting deputy presidential spokesperson Michel Kristian Ablan.,According to the health department, the Philippines reported 149 additional Covid-19 cases this week, lower than the 173 infections tallied from the previous week.,About 3.7 million Covid-19 cases have been detected so far in the Philippines since the virus infection was first discovered.,Of these, some 3.62 million individuals have recovered while 60,000 people have died.,
