Kiefer Ravena will be at the helm when Gilas Pilipinas battles South Korea in a pair of friendly matches at the Anyang Stadium in Gyeonggi-do on 17 and 18 June.,In a roster released by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the 28-year-old Ravena will lead the offensive assault of the national squad that will play in two tuneup matches before seeing action in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in New Zealand in July.,Initially, the Koreans were bunched with the Filipinos, Kiwis and Indians in Group A, but they were booted out of competition due to their last-minute withdrawal in the first window last February.,Reports have it that the Koreans begged off following a coronavirus outbreak within the players, coaches and several members of the team staff.,Ravena, who has yet to settle his contract dispute with NLEX in the Philippine Basketball Association, will be available to play together with collegiate stars RJ Abarrientos, SJ Belangel, Geo Chiu, Carl Tamayo and naturalized player Angelo Kouame.,Japan-based forward Dwight Ramos will also see action as well as LeBron Lopez, Will Navarro and newcomers Rhenz Abando and Kevin Quiambo.,Thirdy Ravena, Kenmark Cariño and Ricci Rivero, meanwhile, will not make the Korean trip after they were cut from the squad that will be handled by Serbian Nenad Vucinic.
