Bong Go calls for continued vigilance vs Covid-19

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go reminded Filipinos to continue strictly adhering to the precautionary health measures against COVID-19 as his office assisted indigent residents of Talugtug and Muñoz City, Nueva Ecija on Wednesday, May 18.,Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and an adopted son of Nueva Ecija, Go also urged the eligible residents to take advantage of the free vaccination program of the government to ensure that they are better protected from the virus.,“Patuloy tayong sumunod sa mga patakaran at magsuot ng mask, mag-social distancing, at maghugas ng kamay. Kung hindi kailangan o may nararamdaman kayong sintomas, ‘wag kayong umalis ng inyong pamamahay,” appealed Go.,“Huwag tayo maging kumpiyansa hangga’t hindi pa natin nakakamtan ang herd immunity. Ayaw natin magaya sa mga ibang bansa na nagsasara dahil dumadami ulit ang bilang ng mga kaso nila,” he added.,The senator’s outreach team distributed meals and masks to a total of 635 residents at the Talugtug Umali Gym and Muñoz City PNP Gym. They also gave phablets, shoes and bicycles to select individuals.,Meanwhile, staff from the Department of Social Welfare and Development also distributed livelihood grants through its Sustainable Livelihood Program.,Go likewise reminded the beneficiaries to make health their utmost priority and encouraged them to seek the services of the Malasakit Centers in the province located at Eduardo L. Joson Memorial Hospital and Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center (Dr. PJGMRMC), both in Cabanatuan City, and at Talavera General Hospital.,The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop which streamlines the provision of medical assistance by bringing together the relevant government agencies under one roof, namely, the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. There are now 151 Malasakit Centers nationwide. Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act.,In line with his commitment to improve healthcare services in the country, Go also sponsored a measure in the Senate which aims to increase the bed capacity of Dr. PJGMRMC from 400 to 1,000 beds. He also supported the completion of the last two floors of the said hospital.,As Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go has supported the funding of various infrastructure projects in the province such as the construction of a multipurpose building in Muñoz.,He also supported the construction of Metal Casting Center inside Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, construction of multipurpose buildings in Barangays Sto. Niño and Obrero, and construction of Camp Tinio Super Health Center.,“Sa ngayon po binabalanse ng gobyerno ang pagbubukas ng ekonomiya. Pero syempre po uunahin ang kalusugan at buhay ng bawat Pilipino. Kaya  magtulungan lang po tayo, magmalasakit po tayo. Malalampasan po natin ito bilang nagkakaisang mamamayang Pilipino,” Go ended.,Last May 12, Go’s team mounted a similar distribution activity for 1,000 indigents in Cabanatuan City.
