The Department of Education (DepEd) assured that it is investigating the incident of food poisoning in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental due to alleged contaminated milk distributed in schools in the area.,At least 100 students who consumed the milk started vomiting Thursday night, prompting parents and teachers to rush them to Bayawan City District Hospital for medical attention.,“DepEd has coordinated with the involved local government unit, the National Dairy Authority, and concerned agencies for the analysis of milk samples and the investigation of the incident. Based on the field report, majority of the affected learners experienced mild illnesses, including dehydration and nausea. They were treated in nearby hospitals and were discharged later on,” DepEd said in a statement,,According to the DepEd, the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) is one of the agency’s priority initiatives.
