South Korea to resume tourist visa issuance in June

South Korea’s embassy in the Philippines will resume the application and issuance of all types of visas, including those for tourists, starting 1 June.,The embassy said through an advisory that unexpired multiple-entry visas issued before 5 April 2020 could be used without re-application.,Submission of consent for isolation will no longer be required.,Detailed information such as the visa application procedure will be announced soon.,The embassy expressed hope that the resumption of visa issuance would boost tourism between South Korea and the Philippines amid the Covid-19 pandemic.,“More and more Koreans have been visiting the Philippines since the Philippine government lifted its ban on tourism. Soon more and more Filipinos will visit Korea,” the embassy said.,“We hope that this resumption will boost people-to-people exchanges between Korea and the Philippines via tourism,” it added.,The embassy reminded unvaccinated Filipinos planning to travel to South Korea to comply with testing and quarantine protocols.,Fully-vaccinated travelers entering South Korea, on the other hand, are exempted from quarantine guidelines, but should submit pre-departure coronavirus tests with negative results and Covid-19 vaccine certificates. — With a report from MJ BLANCAFLOR
