Rody, Bong Go attend launching of the Digital Innovation and Modernization of PHLPost

 , ,,President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go attended the launch of the Digital Innovation and Modernization of the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost), also known as Post Office at the Manila Post Office, Manila City on Thursday, 19 May 2022.,“As we prepare for the new normal, the shift to e-governance, particularly the digitalization of government processes, becomes critical,” Go said.,“We need to change the way we interact with our citizens to be more efficient, responsive, and current. This will make the government more responsive to shifting circumstances,” he added.,During the event, PHLPost officially launched its digitalization and modernization efforts, which include the issuance of new postal cards, the development of a new mobile application, and the upgrade of the postal website, among others, in order to provide fast and effective postal services.,The event, dubbed Digital Innovation, also commemorated the PHLPost’s 30th anniversary, which was marked by the passage of Republic No. 7354. The unveiling of the marker to mark the start of PHLPost’s digital age is one of the highlights of the event.,PHLPost is a member of the Universal Postal Union, a specialized agency of the United Nations that serves as the postal sector’s major venue for international collaboration and customer service enhancement. It now has 192 countries as members.,Go continues to advocate for measures that will help government be more responsive to the changing times. In July 2020, Go filed Senate Bill 1738, or the “E-Governance Act of 2020,” which mandates the government to establish an integrated, interconnected, and inter-operable information and resource-sharing and communications network.,Go said e-governance “will reduce red tape, eliminate corruption, enhance transparency, provide safe and convenient delivery of services to the people and encourage citizen feedback and participation.”,“As we move forward, we need to make long-lasting plans not only for our recovery, but also for our sustainable future,” he pointed out.,The bill seeks to establish the Integrated Government Network, a digital and electronic platform that will act as the primary means for sharing and communicating data, information and resources across all of the government.,It will also create various digital portals for the delivery of public services, an internal records management information system, and an information database.,Go also reminded the government to ensure the smooth implementation of the national ID system to ensure delivery of essential government services.,He expressed confidence in the potential of new technologies and trends in data processing to improve the delivery of public services, enhance administrative governance and reduce corruption and bureaucratic red tape.,“We need to carefully balance our economic and health objectives. By ensuring that government services remain operational by maximizing available technologies, we can help Filipinos easily adapt to the new normal and help our economy recover,” he said.,
