Liam Neeson To Headline Upcoming Crime Thriller Thug

Veteran actor and
Taken franchise action star Liam Neeson has signed on to play the lead role in the upcoming gangster thriller
Thug. Helming the film is Hans Petter Moland, who previously directed Neeson in the 2019 revenge thriller
Cold Pursuit. Warren Goz is producing on behalf of Sculptor Media, and previously produced the recent Neeson-starring action film 
The Marksman. Tony Gayton is penning the script, and is known for writing the
Dwayne Johnson-led action film
Faster.,According to
Deadline, filming on
Thug is scheduled to begin later this year in October in Los Angeles, CA. The film reportedly centers on an aging San Pedro gangster played by Neeson who attempts to reconnect with his children and rectify the mistakes in his past, but is impeded by the criminal underworld that refuses to let him go.
Thug is also being
produced by Eric Gold, Rush Hour and
G.I. Joe franchise producer Roger Birnbaum, Michael Besman, and James Masciello.,Related: How The Marksman Compares To Liam Neeson’s Other Action Movies,Thug producer Goz was quoted as saying about the project, 
“We are excited to work with Liam again with whom we had an amazing experience personally, creatively and commercially on The Marksman. We’re also excited to work with Hans who is fast becoming recognized as one of the top action directors.” Neeson was most recently seen in
the Martin Campbell action thriller
Memory. The release date and distribution plan for
