“Sleepeeer Hit”! Remake Starring Kim Sejeong, Nam Yoon Su, And Choi Daniel Confirms Premiere Date

SBS has confirmed the premiere date of their upcoming drama starring Kim Sejeong, Nam Yoon Su, and Choi Daniel!

SBS’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama “Today’s Webtoon” (literal title) is a Korean remake of the popular 2016 Japanese drama “Sleepeeer Hit!” The drama will tell the story of On Ma Eum, a former judo athlete who joins the webtoon editorial department as a new employee and struggles to mature into a true webtoon editor amidst South Korea’s competitive webtoon industry.

Kim Sejeong will star as Oh Ma Eum, who gives up on her Olympic dreams after suffering an injury. However, the optimist then sets her sights on webtoons, which has been her source of comfort since she was an athlete.

Nam Yoon Su plays Goo Joon Young, a new employee in the webtoon editorial department who boasts an impressive IQ of 150 and aims to be the best of the best. After living with ease all his life, Goo Joon Young faces hardship for the first time when he’s unable to adjust to his new placement in the new webtoon department after working at a famous IT company. Once he starts reflecting on himself, Goo Joon Young grows to be more like On Ma Eum by sincerely putting his heart and soul into everything he does.

In his first drama in four years, Choi Daniel will take on the role of Seok Ji Hyung, an unpredictable deputy editor with an unreadable poker face who becomes a dependable mentor for On Ma Eum. The show will be directed by producing director (PD) Jo Soo Won, who has previously worked on hits like “I Hear Your Voice,” “Pinocchio,” “30 But 17,” and “Doctor John,” among others.

The producers shared, “We recently wrapped up reading practice and began filming. Kim Sejeong, Choi Daniel, Nam Yoon Su, and the rest of the main cast is creating a warm and relatable office drama through their perfect character synchronization and sincerity. Their office place chemistry is better than expected so it feels like we’ve received a lot of support. We will seek you out on July 29 with a drama that conveys comfort and relatable content to youth who are standing at a crossroads of dreams and reality, as well as a message of support to office workers who are doing their best in their positions.”

“Today’s Webtoon” will start airing on July 29 following the conclusion of “Again My Life.”
